Essica Thomas

Essica Kaylea Thomas is the inaugural recipient of William Peace University Parham Scholar Award, September, 2022. A Human Resources Management professional and a 2023 graduate of William Peace University, Essica majored in HR Management and founded the university’s first Human Resources Management Club. A student-athlete on the Track & Field Team, she combined leadership and service throughout her college career, including volunteering with the Sandhills Community Action Program, where she developed a budgeting initiative to help low-income families achieve financial self-sufficiency.

Essica gained practical HR experience as an intern at Sandhills Community College and contributed to William Peace University’s Instructional Design Team. There, she led a comprehensive training needs analysis, facilitated client intake meetings, and piloted a targeted training program that improved student retention. She also designed an instructional manual and supplemental learning materials that helped streamline the university’s training experience.

She currently serves as a Human Resources Management Assistant at Penick Village of Southern Pines N.C., continuing her commitment to creating supportive, well-designed organizational environments.
